How it works

Add and subtract elapsed time

Each row is one duration. Choose whether to add or subtract it, then read the combined result in the format you need.

1

Enter a duration

Set the hours and minutes. Values such as 90 minutes are accepted.

2

Choose plus or minus

Keep Add for a positive duration, or switch a row to Subtract.

3

Use any result format

Copy H:MM, total minutes, and decimal hours together in one tap.

Examples

Common duration calculations

2:35 + 1:50 = 4:25

265 total minutes, or 4.42 decimal hours.

8:00 − 0:45 = 7:15

435 total minutes, or 7.25 decimal hours.

1:20 + 0:55 + 2:10 = 4:25

Three positive durations can be combined in one calculation.

0:30 − 1:15 = −0:45

A larger subtraction produces a negative result.

The formula

Convert everything to minutes first

Multiply each hours value by 60, add its minutes, and apply the plus or minus sign. Divide the final total by 60 for decimal hours; divide with a remainder for H:MM.

FAQ

Hours and minutes questions

What is a time duration?
